Lack of interest in the series by investors probably
that, and K.A. Applegate went out of her way to make it as unfriendly on a shows budget as possible

teens killing aliens and infested humans by graphically dismembering them, lots of lasers cutting things up, people being ejected into space, war crimes
made grade 6 through 8 fun times

>>44898368Basically far off there's a war between several alien races. The "bad guys" are the yeerks. Yeerks are basically sluglike beings that can't experience much of the world, but they can take over the minds of other creatures and live through them. Obviously, the other creatures aren't fans of this takeover process. Yeerks were harmlessly slugging it up in a pool before one of the blue aliens, called andilites, reached out to them and gave them technology. He thought he was helping a poor sentient species stuck in the mud to expand it's reach. They used the tech to basically run off to find planets to take over. One that they're reaching is earth, which is basically a holy grail to them. It's overloaded with billions of a sentient species that isn't made useless due to biology (like a species called the taxxons) and is so far off the andilites radar they don't even know it exists

>>44898692Oh shit right sorry. Ok so basically the andilites created a form of technology that allows them to absorb the dna of other species. An andilite chasing yeerks crashed onto earth, and knowing that there was no way more andlite forces would be around anytime soon, gave this ability to the humans that were found him dying in his crash, so that they could defend their planet.
Morphing works by:
Touching the animal you want to absorb in order to obtain its dna
Concentrating on that animal
Becoming it
If you stay in that form for over 2 hours, you are fucked and trapped forever in that form

The reason it's hard to adapt is because the entire book boils down to "War is hell" for kids. It was ingrained so deeply in the core of the books that you can't get rid of it without destroying what made them great.

>>44899252OK. Non-spoiler guy, there are spoilers below.
Basically the Andelite high command decides the only way to win the war is to allow Earth to fall, and then when the yeerks flood it to take the billions of hosts to nuke the entire planet from orbit killing everything. Ax is ordered to deliberately sabotage the Animorphs attack on the Yeerk pool because it actually stands a chance of seriously denting the Yeerk war effort and stopping this occurring. He disobeys orders and the attack happens and it is fucking awesome.

Wishing to get it back she comes across a starfish, acquires it, and morphs into it, retrieving the earring. Unfortunately, before she can demorph, a child chops her in half. Thanks to the regenerative properties of starfish, Rachel does not die; instead, in the shock of being sliced in two, both halves demorph, resulting in two Rachels - Mean Rachel and Nice Rachel.

The Yeerks were surprisingly sympathetic
a race of sentient slugs, denied even the most basic of senses and possessing no appendages of their own, relying on the random chance of a animal falling into their tiny pools on their sparse world in order to gain some semblance of sensation
who can blame them for being so aggressive once given the chance to leave?

If I would pick a cat to fight as in battle, it'd be a (male, since the females are made for hunting) lion. Possibly a tiger, but IDK.
In all honesty, assuming this isn't for battle, I'd rather just morph a housecat.
I'd also morph some sort of crocodilian (they're all cool but saltwater crocs are the biggest so maybe one of those) and for flying, a seagull.
If I could handle it (dunno if I could, but if I could), I'd also like to morph one of the more friendly Carpenter bees or bumblebees. A snake would be neat too.

I liked how humans were presented in these books too.
Pros:
-So good at war with our limited tech that our huge numbers prevented a full invasion.
-Fast to adapt due to our sheer numbers and competitive nature
-Some among us are so resistant to losing individuality that we caused our yeerks to go mad.
-The level of hedonistic pleasure/joy we could experience in life rivaled or surpassed most other creatures (food, social, media) that it corrupted some of the yeerk and almost prevented our invasion.
Cons:
-We like to avoid things that disrupt the ease of daily life
-Horribly outmatched tech wise.
-Some of us are so weak that we willingly succumb to mind-domination.
-Easily divided amongst ourselves unless we have a known, common foe.
-We are often absolute assholes to everyone, including ourselves. (Only species Elfangor knew that had wars amongst itself)

The basic ideas would be that the humans have basically got an alliance by default with the Taxxons due to Earth being their new home and it turns out that humans and Yeerks get on pretty well when the relationship is equal. The Hork Bajir want further retribution against the Yeerks, while the Andalites are worried that humanity will usurp them as the major political power in there sector of the galaxy. And the humans want the Andalites to share their tech faster than they are. However all four races need to learn to work together as there are growing rumours of the complete take over of Kelbrid space by The One and that we are the next thing in it's path.

He cleaned the tables by eating all the food. Including the wrapping. People got annoyed when he went after food they were eating at the time, and the shop owner gave him a tray of cinnabon buns (bun-ZUH) to get him to shut up and go away.
There's a scene cut, and in the next chapter, they're out in the forest and Marco is telling everybody else that he was wandering through the mall when he heard people screaming to get an ambulance, because somebody had gone crazy and tried to eat an entire tray of cinnabon buns.

It makes sense. You don't have protrusions into your skeleton if you intend to fight a creature that can fight back.
Also I liked the reasoning behind the Taxxons (and it gives a good estimate of how the entire species was taken over).
They basically eat ravenously because they're from a desert planet where food and water were so scarce, that eating was something they had evolved to do as a bloodbath out of necessity, since it was that or starve to death.

>>44903401This. Remember the Yeerks weren't just generic Sentai badguys who sent out monsters to fight the heroes. They had the invasion of earth all wrapped up and the rest was a formality.
They had control of AOL back in the nineties when that was a big deal. They had control of more than a few government officials and a ton of lawmen. It was implied that they controlled the leader of a major world power, possibly the president of the USA himself. They had guys in literally every walk of life and were expanding at an insane rate.
If they tried to tell anyone, even anonymously, the Yeerk would find out long before they'd get taken seriously. Remember, Yeerk run every chat room, Yeerk run every school club, and Yeerk could be ANYBODY, including your parents or your brother or your sister or you children.
That's why they were so scary, there was no way for them to be escaped without leaving society.

>>44899230qrayac [spioler] is an ancient evil going around the various galaxies puting species up against each other, running weak races into the ground, and favoring warlike dudes. it is heaviliy implied that he either created, or altered the yeerks to become parasities, taking over the humans and andalites.
the elimist encountered him shortly after reaching his demi-god form, and fights him, and stalemates him by throwing both a black hole in both's path. crayack is haltered, and the elimist is by accident made godlike. they decide to play a game of strategy concerning the lesser races of the univers, of wich the yeerks, animorphs and andalites ETC, are merly pawns.
